FAQS

Why should I hire a lawyer to prepare a spousal sponsorship application?

Hiring a lawyer can significantly increase the chances of success and help avoid costly mistakes or delays. A lawyer brings legal expertise, strategic insight, and attention to detail. They will:

  • Ensure your application is complete and well-documented;
  • Identify and address any red flags that could lead to refusal;
  • Help you clearly demonstrate the genuineness of your relationship;
  • Guide you through supporting documents, timelines, and eligibility requirements;
  • Represent you in communication with IRCC and respond to procedural fairness letters or requests for additional information, if necessary.
Spousal sponsorship is a deeply personal and often emotional process. Working with a lawyer provides peace of mind, knowing that your application is being handled professionally and with your best interests in mind.

How can I sponsor my parents or grandparents to immigrate to Canada permanently?

Canada provides specific pathways that allow citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residency. However, in recent years, the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) has operated on a lottery-based invitation system. Only those who are randomly selected by IRCC are eligible to submit a sponsorship application.

If you were not selected in the lottery, there may still be alternative options. In certain cases, a Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) application could be explored as a potential pathway to reunite with your loved ones in Canada—particularly if there are compelling circumstances.
